All sopping wet, the animals and Alice are faced with the task of drying themselves. When listening to the mouse talk about William the Conqueror (because history is so very dry and dull) doesn't work, the Dodo holds a Caucus-race. The merry troop runs along a circle path for an awfully long time until the Dodo announces that the race has finished. When asked who won it determines that everyone must have won. Of course, you cannot win without receiving a prize so ,in true Wonderland spirit, Alice is forced to come up with prizes for herself and all the animals. Sitting together once again Alice and all of the animals listen to the mouse's tale (or tail?) until a comment from Alice about her cat Dinah sends all of the animals around her on their way. As she sits by herself Alice can hear the patter of little feet.
