In the beginning, Alice is very bored. Her sister, immersed in a novel, will pay her no mind so she is forced to laze about on a fine (summer's?) day. While pondering many things Alice first sees the white rabbit late for an important meeting with the Duchess. She pays him no mind while he is fretting and only becomes curious in him after she finds he is in possession of a pocket watch. Without anything to do Alice follows the rabbit down a tunnel (dark) until reaching a hole which she unknowingly stumbles into. After falling for an awfully long time she comes to another passage leading to a hallway with all locked doors. On a table in the hall is a key that fits a 15" tall door. Alice can obviously not clear such a tiny door and has to employ various size changing foods to end up small enough for the door, but not large enough to reach the key. Crying to herself Alice eats a piece of cake.
