Lewis Carroll was actually Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, born 1832 & died 1898. Among many things he was an author, clergyman, mathematician, and photographer. The man himself has been described as attractive with a slight stammer. Unlike many famous writers Dodgson actually did well in society & was good at charades, etc. While he wrote quite a few books his most famous are Alice and it's sequel. Knowing this you wouldn't think him the type to write such nonsense books, but any thing's possible.
